The Month of “May” Just “May”-be the Month to Sell Your Home

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

The sun is shining and summer is officially around the corner. For the Real Estate industry, this means that people are coming out of hibernation and are more out and about shopping for homes. If you’re considering selling your home, the month of May just “May”-be the right time to sell.

If you’re hesitant to take that first step, don’t let the anxiety of preparing the house for sale hold you back. Keep it simple with these extra steps to really make your house sparkle and shine from the inside out.

INSIDE: With the bright sunshine outside, keep your house bright on the inside with a good scrub down. Next, because you want your home to look like it has plenty of space, de-clutter those dark areas full of “stuff” you’ve been planning to get to for the last few years (you know what I mean) and put it off-site in a pod or a storage unit. Most importantly, the goal here is to have Buyers be able to visualize themselves in your home, so now is a good time to do minor repairs, fresh coat of neutral color paint and carpet cleaning will do wonders in the presentation.

OUTSIDE: Keep it simple. Mow the lawn, trim the trees and sweep the patio. Yes, you can even have some fun with it and play up the season by planting colorful flowers. While you’re at it, it doesn’t hurt to throw down some new mulch too.

Put yourself in the Buyer’s shoes, because while they wait for their Realtor® to

open the lockbox, they are lingering at the front door. So before they take their first steps into their potential new home, put your best foot forward with a good first impression and welcome them into the home with a new welcome mat.

If all these things are done, your house can hit the market in a couple of days. However, try to plan one-two week to allow for marketing and advertising preparation. So what are you waiting for? Simplify the process, because May just “May”-be the right time to sell your home to get “Results that MOVE You.”
